My hero: Indiana Jones

Indiana Jones. An icon to adventurers everywhere. From Raiders to the Crystal Skull, Harrison Ford’s iconic character has left viewers ready to go out and see the world. Including myself, so I put together a guide on how to be Indiana Jones, both physically and mentally.

Physical appearance; first off, Indiana Jones is in superb shape, all the way through Crystal Skull, so if you are really wanting to become the best Indy you can be I would recommend bumping up your exercise routine (I will not be doing this). Clothing can be taken in many directions. My personal interpretation is khaki cargo shorts, a button up top, belt and some sort of sturdy shoes. The most important thing is comfort and ability to move. Jones’ hat and whip are his trademark, so keep that in mind as well. For hair and makeup, natural is key. You definitely want to wear sunscreen, because although Indiana Jones can pull off the sweaty tan adventurer, your skin is not something to play around with. As for hair I think two french braids would be suitable.

On the way to becoming Jones mentally you must leave all fear behind you, except for one crippling fear that will become your trademark. For Jones it is snakes but feel free add your own creative flair! All joking aside, Indiana Jones has the key balance of fearless and sensible. He isn’t reckless or stupid but he won’t let anything stand in the way of his ultimate goal.

Finally, the most important of them all, go live your life! Do something you love, travel, see the world, and adventure. Keep a journal, write down everything you see, where you’ve been and where you want to go. See nature, go on hikes, explore your own backyard. Stay young. Stay inspired.

“I’m like a bad penny, I always turn up.”–Indiana Jones from The Last Crusade
